As part of our 2nd Anniversary activities, we were supported by the MTNghana Foundation and GHCN to hold a health project for the aged.
On the 23rd of October, 2022, we undertook a free breast screening, general health checks, and health talk at the Hope Assemblies of God in Mamprobi. Ablekumah sub metro.
A total of 194 people checked their vitals. Out of this, there were 152 females, 32 males, and 10 young adults. 22 of them were diagnosed with high blood pressure (above 140/90), 5 were diagnosed with high sugar levels (those who took the test on an empty stomach) and 5 others were diabetic (those who ate before the test).
Unfortunately, most of the people who were diagnosed with high blood pressure were not aware of their condition. Some few others who knew were not taking their medications as they ought to. All who came for the screening were counseled based on their diagnosis and advised to visit the hospital for further examination. We also gave financial assistance to those who needed medications. They were further advised on the essence of taking the Covid 19 vaccines.
With support from the Mudloko Foundation and health personnel from Mamprobi Hospital, we had a successful thorough health screening program. With the use of scientific equipment, we had a thorough check of all body parts including the liver, spleen, kidney, lungs, intestines, cholesterol levels, thickness of blood, G6PD, hydration, efficiency of the brain, vision, etc. a maximum of 20mins was used per patient during the program.
The program started at 7:00 am and ended at 9:46 pm. Free Breakfast was given to all interested patients present.
